Anhie Rihm
Teaching
English in China is an absolute superb experience. At the beginning
the thought of me being a teacher with no teaching experience was
quite intimidating and daunting.
I had just a couple of days to adjust to everything here (time,
location, culture, food, etc.) before I was being led to my "classroom",
a chemistry lab, to succumb to my duty/destiny. After being thrown
in at the deep end and getting used to 30+ curious staring eyes,
teaching became a second nature to me. Deciding to come here has
definitely changed my life: I have made new friends from all over
the world, I have explored and appreciated the differences of cultures
and customs and learned to adapt to a whole different lifestyle,
my world outlook has most certainly changed and I have broadened
my horizons beyond belief. The TEIC experience is a unique one and
should not be missed by anyone.
Progress Report:
Dear Professor Philip Thomas,
This is Anhie, the German/Korean lady you send to Shijiazhuang.
It's over a year now that I stayed in China and I am still here but not teaching
English anymore.
I was wondering, whether you could send me the ad or something
for which I applied for teaching English in China. Up to this very moment, I
cannot remember at all having sent anything to you or an agency or similar.
Having used this opportunity it opened for me a much bigger opportunity.
Thus I am very grateful for all the support I got from you one year ago.
I stayed in China and found myself another job which looks promising.
I hope you are still recruiting students and imparting your knowledge
to them.
