The TEIC Programme
The TEIC Programme is open to native English speakers from any
country. If you are not a native English speaker, but can speak
English fluently, you can also apply. We have Germans, Dutch and
a Swede on the programme.
TEIC is a small, friendly and non-commercial programme, offering
a more personal travel experience. Your role, as a Teaching Assistant,
will be to provide English language conversational classes and correct
students’ written work. The positions are in top-quality,
vetted state schools, colleges or universities, in major cities
e.g. Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Anshan, Urumqi, and Shijiazhuang.
All institutions recruit at least two English language teachers
per year from the programme.
The programme runs from September to June. The Fall semester runs
until early January with a mid semester break but no Christmas break.
There is a four/five week holiday for the Chinese New Year, in January/February.
This is when the teachers go travelling within China or outside
the country. The Spring semester, with a mid semester break of a
week, finishes at the end of June. There are a number of public
state holidays in addition to these. Many teaching assistants delay
their return in order to enjoy a further period of travel.

not-for-profit organisation. It was founded in 1981 with the approval
of the State Council of China. In 1991 it was registered with the
Ministry of Civil Affairs and in 1994 was registered with the UN's
